Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb Monday asked Prime Minister Imran Khan to tender an apology to the nation for taking a "U-turn" in relation to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). "We do not want Prime Minister Imran Khan to commit suicide as it is forbidden, but he should, at least, apologise to the nation for taking a U-turn", she said in a statement in response to Prime Minister Khan's meeting with the IMF chief in Dubai, as the Prime Minister had earlier stated that he would commit suicide rather than approach the Fund.

She also demanded that the agreed terms and conditions with IMF should be presented in Parliament for discussions. "Imran Khan has become the first prime minister who has himself approached the IMF with a begging bowl," she said. She also maintained that the PML-N government had ended the programme with the IMF in 2015 for economic stability in the country.

"If the Prime Minister does not have the confidence in his economic team, how can the nation a trust in his team?" she further stated. She maintained that IMF package would unleash a new "tsunami" of inflation in the country, adding that the government should inform people about the expected increase in prices of gas, electricity and essential items as a result of the upcoming IMF package. She further maintained that Pakistani rupee will further depreciate against dollar.
